| OXFORD AND THE NEW FOREST |
| EVERY WEDNESDAY £30 |
FEEL THE BUZZ OF BEING A STUDENT!
Our tour begins with a drive through the woodland and heathlands of the New Forest, our newest National Park. This ancient lowland landscape of indigenous vegetation, intersected by a myriad of rivers and streams, was decreed a Royal Forest in the 11th Century. The ancient pastoral economy has preserved some of the richest and most extensive wildlife habitats in Europe and as well as the thousands of wild ponies and cattle that freely graze, it really is a naturalist's dream.
On then to Oxford, the city of Dreaming Spires, and home to one of the world's oldest and best known universities, and some of the finest architecture in Europe. Many of the 39 colleges, which make up the university, can be visited, and behind the ivy-clad walls lie beautiful chapels, halls and libraries. Many colleges date from the 1200s and the hall of the grandest college, Christ Church, is so atmospheric, it was a key location in the Harry Potter films.
Other attractions include the Sheldonian Theatre, the Tom Tower and five University museums, and after taking tea in the very shop that the real-life Alice in Wonderland bought sweets, you may like a stroll along the punt-strewn River Thames.
“We had a great day, packed in so much but we were never rushed. Worth every penny” Diana, from NZ |
